This page has instructions for parents who have already signed up for a video chat study with their child. You can download a one-page PDF of these instructions by clicking on this link: InstructionsForYaleVideoChat
The first part of this page has instructions to set up your computer for the video chat study. Please do this as soon as you can. The second part has instructions to start the video chat for your appointment.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help over e-mail, or we can talk you through the process over the phone.
Part 1: How to check if your computer has what it needs (do this as soon as possible):
Click on this link: https://ischool.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm
You can just relax while it does tests. After a couple of minutes, you will probably see three green checkmarks and a warning yellow sign, like in this picture:
If this is what you see, then you are ready to go! (If you want the last green check mark, you can install the Add-in. It will improve your sound quality a little when you video chat with us, but it is not necessary.) On the other hand, if you do not have green check marks next to 1, 2, and 3, you will need to do one or more of the following: download flash, install flash on your computer, and give flash permission to run on your browser. This page contains help for all of these steps: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
Part 2: How to access the chat room during your appointment time:
Click on the link we sent you in an e-mail. You will go to a website that looks like this:
Enter any name you want as “guest name” and click “Enter Room”. You will then see a page that is mostly empty. If it is not your appointment time, then nothing else will happen. If it is your appointment time, then the researcher will start the video chat session with you and your child!
